Turkish VanTurkish Van is a semi-longhaired cat breed. It originally existed in the regions of southwest Asia. Cat breeders first brought this cat to England. However, there was a confusion regarding its name, as people mistook it for Turkish Angora. Hence, breeders named it Turkish Van.

Body Description:

Turkish Vans are sturdy with a broad chest and long legs. They have fine delicate hair. Eyes are large and oval-shaped having yellowish or pink shades. The muzzle is rounded. The head is wedge-shaped and broad. Nose is medium-sized and paws are rounded and neat.

The semi-longhaired coat requires grooming twice in a week. Turkish Vans cast off hair in the winter. The coat has colour markings on tail and head.

Weight and Height

Male Turkish Vans weigh around 12 to 17 lbs and females weigh 9 to 13 lbs. Height of the cat is between 9 to 11 inches.

Nature and Temperament

Turkish Vans are agile, bubbly and intelligent. They love swimming in puddles, bathtubs and ponds. They are sharp and like to catch fish.

Activity

Turkish Vans play well with toys. They even like to run and jumping around elevated objects.

Life Span

Life expectancy of Turkish Van is 15 years or more than that.
