Turkish AngoraTurkish Angora originated in Western Turkey, which is near Ankara. The former name of Ankara was Angora. Turkish Angora is an offspring of longhair cats brought by the Vikings to Europe centuries ago. Breeders then, bred this cat breed with Persian cats to obtain Turkish Angora. Pet organisations worldwide recognised this breed in 1968.

Body Description:

Turkish Angoras are finely boned and medium-sized. They have long and slender torso and neck. Head of the cat is tapered toward its chin. Ears are large and pointed. Eyes of the cat resemble the shape of an almond and are green, blue or golden in colour. Tail is long.

Body coat of Turkish Angora is silky white and of medium length. They require combing and brushing once a week.

Weight and Height

The cat weighs around 6 to 11 lbs and grows around 11 inches in height.

Nature and Temperament

Turkish Angoras are energetic and graceful. They welcome people at the door by swaying around them. This cat breed gets along well other cat breeds and dogs. If left alone indoors for extended hours, they may often act obstinate and intolerant.

Activity

Turkish Angoras prefer to play most often. Hence, enough space is required for their recreation.

Life Span

Life expectancy of Turkish Angora is 15 years and more.
