Staffordshire Bull TerrierStaffordshire Bull Terrier originated in England. Breeders bred it for harassing lion, bull and bear. The proponents of blood sport used this dog for dog fighting. This breed came into being when breeders bred bulldogs with many terriers. This dog was introduced to ring shows in 1935. It is a perfect watch dog.

Body Description:

This dog is muscular and strong. Its head is broad and jaws are strong. Its eyes are light pink. Ears of this dog are half-pricked and short. Its lips are clean and tight. The dog’s tail is of medium size. It has strong jaws that have the scissors bite. Upper teeth extend over the lower teeth.

Body coat of this dog is short, dense and smooth. The coat colours are white, red, blue, fawn and black. It is even of brindle shade with combination of white. This dog is an average shedder.

Weight and Height Male dogs are 14 to 16 inches tall, whereas female dogs are 13 to 15 inches tall. Male dogs weigh 11 to 17 kg, whereas female dogs weigh 10 to 16 kg.
Nature and Temperament Staffordshire bull terrier demands human attention. It is a reliable home companion. This dog is loving and loyal. It plays with children. It guards a house well and alerts its owner on spotting any stranger. However, this dog does not do well with other pets if owners do not train it properly.
Activity

Staffordshire bull terrier is athletic. As such, it needs regular exercise. Owners need not leave this dog alone in public places while hiking, walking or jogging. It likes running off the leash in a protected yard. It is best suited to apartment dwelling.

Life Span Life expectancy of this dog is 10 to 16 years.
