SomaliSomali cat features semi-long hair all over its body. A breeding program, in which breeders bred Abyssinian cats of many types, led to the development of the Somali cat. As the development of this cat breed took place in Somalia, breeders named it Somali. Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA) recognised this breed in 1978.

Body Description:

This cat resembles a fox. The tail is soft. Ears are long tufted. The body is muscular, long and slender with markings on face. Eyes are almond-shaped and large of amber or green colour. Ears are slightly pointed. Legs are thin and lengthy.

Coat of Somali is semi-long having thick undercoat. It features many colours such as fawn, blue, red and ruddy. The cat sheds little hair all through a year.

Weight and Height Somali weighs 9 to 16 lbs and its height is nearly 9 to 11 inches.
Nature and Temperament Somali cat is lively, alert, curious, calm and manageable. The cat comfortably plays with children. It has a soft voice and is good at learning, especially to open cabinets. It may even turn on the faucets.
Activity

Scratching post is the best place for the cat’s exercise. It may easily learn to shake hands. Indoor life is best suited to this cat breed.

Life Span Life expectancy of the cat is 12 years.
