Scottish TerrierScottish Terriers originated from Scotland and are one of the ancient breed of highland Terriers. They are very playful, curious and muscular. They are compact and sturdy. Scottish Terriers make a perfect family companion.

Body Description:

They have short legs. They are groomed to look shorter. Scottish Terriers have sharp pricked ears, large nose and large teeth. The neck is strong and muscular. Tail is medium length, which is straight or slightly curved.

The Scottish Terrier has a soft, dense and coarse undercoat that provides protection to the dog from bad weather. The outer coat is hard and wiry and grows to approximately 2 inches. Popular colour is black, brindle, grey, sandy and wheaten.

Weight and Height  A Scottish Terrier measures up to 10-11 inches and weighs around 19-23 pounds.
Nature and Temperament Scottish Terriers are so curious that they will go anywhere and do anything. They are famous for their dominant personality and are very protective about their territory. They need to be socialised from an early age, to make them more tolerant towards other animals or pets. They do not bark without a reason and thus make excellent watchdogs. They are not tolerant of unruly or aggressive young children. Scottish Terriers are lively and dependable.
Activities The Scottish terrier is very active and always ready for adventure. They require daily long walks and enjoy stimulation and play. They immensely enjoy playing fetch and Frisbee. Scottish Terriers get bored and destructive if not given enough stimulation and exercise. They may dig or bark excessively.
Average Lifespan On an average, the lifespan of Scottish terrier is 12-15 years.
