PugPug is a very old breed, originated in Asia before 400 BC. However, many breeders do not know the exact year and place of finding. Some breeders think that Dutch traders transported this breed from the east, while others believe that Pug is formed by crossing small bulldog. The breed became popular in the year 1885 as a companion dog. The breed is talented in performing tricks and watch dogging.

Body Description:

The breed has a thickest, square and compact body with soft coating. The ears are velvety and rose shaped. The breed has dark, lustrous, prominent and expressive eyes. Their cheeks have moles, which add beauty in their look. The legs are strong and straight for brisk walk.

The Pug comes with fine, soft and short coat. The coat is glossy and smooth in normal conditions. The hair along the tail is slightly crooked.

Weight and Height

The average weight of a Pug may vary from 14 pounds to 18 pounds. Its average height is 11 inches.

Nature and Temperament This breed is very cheerful and happy and gets along well with anyone. The Pug is one of the breeds that do well with strangers. In addition, they always do well with small children, even if they provoke this dog because of their sturdiness. They require early socialization to create a relationship with other pets.
Activities This breed is very active and lively. They may do well without any yard. They love to go for long walks however; they need ample amount of water, as they may get tired quickly. The Pug may live in any environment. This breed loves to eat food and may turn lazy. Therefore, frequent exercise is necessary for this breed.
