Persian CatPersian cat is a longhaired breed of cat. It is believed to be originated in Persia, thus the name Persian. However, as breeders bred this cat breed with Angoras, its exact origin is not clear. It became famous in Britain following which breeders levied heavy price on its sale. Cat shows were popular with this cat.

Body Description:

This cat is sturdy and short. Its legs are thick with fat paws. The neck is thick and short. Shoulders are large with wide chest. The tail is short. Face of the Persian cat is flat. The head is broad and nose is short. Eyes are round and ears are tufted.

Persian cat displays silky, luxurious, thick and long body coat. Colour of the coat has many patterns. However, the coat is very soft and needs protection as well as everyday grooming. Hair on its coat often faces problems of hairballs and tangles.

Weight and Height

Male Persian cats weigh around 9 to14 lbs, whereas female Persian cats weigh around 7 to 11 lbs. They measure around seven inches tall.

Nature and Temperament By nature, this cat is very calm. It has a calm demeanour and enjoys pouncing on catnip. It loves playing, caressing and pampering when happy. It craves for human attention and loves staying at a particular place most of the time.
Activity

Persian cats mostly prefer staying indoors. They play when excitedly in playful mood.

Life Span Life expectancy of Persian cat is 15 years or more than that.
