Native American Indian DogThe Native American Indian Dog lived with the American Indian for centuries and helped the Native Americans. This breed was used for hunting by the Native Americans and was taught to fish.

Body Description:

They are medium sized athletic having a more wolf like structure. They have a long slim and muzzle head and they have ears that are prick and upright. They have constant alert eyes. The tail resembles a Siberian husky which is either long or curled up.

They have two types of coats. It is either longhaired or short and dense. They differ in colours ranging from silver to black, tortoise shell colour or the broken pattern coat colouring referred by the Native Americans as spirit dog. They have an overcoat that is dense and long, whereas the undercoat that is wind and waterproof

Weight and Height

They weigh around 55 to 120 pounds and grow around 23 to 34 inches tall.

Nature and Temperament Native American Indian dogs are strong, versatile and good tempered. They are intelligent, adaptable and hardworking. They are very adjusting and jell along with all people living in the country or outdoors, singles and families with older children. As they are naturally protective towards their family, there are chances of them being slightly reserved, when encountered with strangers.
Activity

Native Americans are energetic and inquisitive. They need to be taken for a long brisk walk daily. They have high energy levels still they vary from one another. They are a little sensitive, when it comes to training, but they learn fast when given positive feedback and encouragement.

Life Span Native American Indian Dog has a lifespan of around 14 to 19 years.
