LurcherIn 1600s, the Irish gypsies bred Lurchers in Great Britain and Ireland for hunting hares, rabbits and other small animals. The Lurcher is a crossbreed of either Greyhound and Collie or Greyhound and Terrier. This breed mainly dwells in Great Britain and Ireland.

Body Description:

The Lurchers have straight and long legs. They have deep chest for high endurance. This breed has small ears that are pointing upwards. They have dark, small and round eyes. Lurchers may come in different colours, as they are crosses of Sighthounds. Some Lurchers also have long hairs on their body.

A short coat along with a smooth undercoat inspissates during winters to protect them from extreme condition.

Weight and Height This breed may grow up to 27-30 inches tall. The maximum weight of this breed is 70 pounds.
Nature and Temperament This breed is lovable, affectionate and fun-loving dog. However, they are good escape artists. This breed is highly energetic and requires brisk run. This breed has very rapid and agile movements, as they are crossbreeds of Sighthounds. In addition, this breed has inherited the strong instinct of hunting quality from the Sighthounds. This makes it a fast learner and obedient dog. Generally, this breed is gentle with humans.
Activity

This breed is very fast in running and has all the qualities of a natural racer. They require securely fenced area for a daily long walk. They may not enjoy living in cities.

Life Span The average survival period of this breed is 13 years.
