Lancashire HeelerLong time ago, Lancashire Heelers were on the edge of extinction as people stopped relying on cattle dogs for herding. The present Lancashire Heeler is the recreation of original Lancashire that has lines of Manchester Terrier and Welsh Corgi. The new Lancashire Heeler retained the ability to cattle. However, they are commonly used as a companion.

Body Description:

Their legs are shorter as compared to their body. This breed has large and wide ears in erect posture. The head is proportionate to their body. This breed has sturdy and short legs with paws slightly turning out. They have muscular hindquarters.

This breed comes with double coating. The texture of short and thick outer coat is hard and flat while, the under coat’s texture is fine. This breed may have different colours of coat such as, tan or black. Lancashire Heelers are seasonal shedders especially in winters and rainy.

Weight and Height

The maximum height of the male breed is 12 inch while, the maximum height of female breed is 10 inch. Generally, the male Lancashire Heeler weighs 20 pounds while the female weighs 18 pounds.

Nature and Temperament Lancashire Heelers are very loyal and kind to their masters. This breed does best with older children in a family. Lancashire Heelers may accept companionship with other dogs and pets. They are protective to their family and are ready to inform their masters in case of visitors or dangers.
Activities They are suited to apartment living. However, they need sufficient exercise with early mental training. This breed enjoys leashed walks with free-play and other activities in a fenced yard.
Average Lifespan

The average lifespan of this breed is 12-13 years.
