Irish SetterGreyhound is the fastest of all dog breeds across the world. It may run for more than 40 miles an hour. This dog is used in dog racing. According to popular belief, this ancient breed comes from Arabian Sloughi. Traders introduced this dog to England before 900 AD. They were even used for hunting wild board and deer. It does not relate well with non-canine pets, particularly cats and rabbits

Body Description:

Greyhound is sensitive and gentle. It makes a good family pet and loves being with children. The breed is highly spirited. It excels in numerous sports including sighting, racing, agility, hunting and watchdogging.

As the coat is short, it hardly requires grooming. Its hair is glossy, coarse, harsh and firm to touch. Usually, its hair is tight and close lying. The coat is weather resistant.

Weight and Height This dog breed weighs 65 to 70 kg, whereas bitches weigh 60 to 65 lbs and they can grow up to 27 to 30 inches tall.
Nature and Temperament Greyhound is affectionate. It loves staying within its family around children. The dog preys on cats, birds and rabbits. It adores the company of other dogs. However, it mixes well with dogs of similar breed.
Activity

Greyhound is intelligent. The dog needs training for obedience. The trainer of this dog has to be gentle and caring. For developing a surpassing ability in the dog, trainers need to train it consistently. The training techniques might vary to ensure all-round physical fitness of the dog.

Life Span The normal lifespan of Greyhound breed is 9 to 11 years.
