HarrierHarrier is a swift hunting dog. It possesses superior stamina and has excellent nose, while in any field. There have been conflicts over this dog’s origin. A story held that breeders crossed the earliest types of this breed with Basset Hound, bloodhounds and Talbot Hound. Another story reveals this breed originated after cross breeding English foxhound along with Greyhound and Fox Terrier. Yet another source claims that this breed is just a bred version of English foxhound.

Body Description:

Harrier resembles English foxhound. It is compact, speedy and smells hard. It is a hunting hound, which is muscular having thin, but hard coat. Colour of its coat is usually white and red, white and lemon or tan and white. Bones are large that offer great strength and stamina. Tail is of medium length. It has broad skull and its muzzle resembles the shape of a square. It has rounded ears. Eyes are hazel or brown. The dog has a wide black nose.

As the coat is shorthaired, it makes easy for grooming. Owners need to comb out dead hair occasionally

Nature and Temperament

Harrier is outgoing and playful. The dog is tolerant, cheerful and sweet-tempered. It loves being with kids. It even appears good before other dogs. However, it needs supervision, when left with other non-canine pets. The dog is always active and loves trailing, exploring and sniffing.
