Devon RexThe Devon Rex breed of cat has descended from stray cats. In 1960, Ms Beryl Cox in Devon, England discovered a curly-coated male cat in a litter of feral cats surviving in a deserted mine. That male cat was bred with tri-colour female stray cat and result was a curly-coated male cat named as Kirlee. Kirlee is also known as the father of Devon Rex breed.

Body Description:

Devon Rex has a unique appearance. They have large eyes and prominent cheekbones. The muzzle is short and strong and low set of ears give an elf-like look to this breed. They have hard, muscular, slender and medium sized body. Their chest is wide and barrel-like and appear like Bull dogs when they are standing. The tail is slender and tapers towards the end.

The coat of Devon Rex is soft, wavy and furry with a distinct texture. The curls can be only felt while petting them.

Weight and Height Male Devon Rex weigh around 8-10 pounds and females weigh around 5-7 pounds. They measure up to 9-11 inches.
Nature and Temperament Devon Rex is very friendly and people-oriented breed. They are very active and playful and are power jumpers. This nature of Devon Rex is also aptly referred to as ‘Dennis the Menace’. They love to sit on their owners lap or anywhere close to human beings, especially their family.
Activity

The Devon Rex is very energetic and playful. They love to perform acrobatic stunts and jump around. They love to stay indoors and to play with a ball.

Life Span On an average a Devon Rex lives for about 12-14 years.
