Cocker Spaniel Cocker Spaniels were bred from English Cocker Spaniels. They love to hunt a bird called woodcock, and thus they were named ‘Cocker’. Cocker Spaniels were useful for hunting and guarding. However, lately they have become glamorous show dogs. They are used as status symbol and sometimes are used in fashion shows.

Body Description:

Cocker Spaniels are furry and small dogs. They have long hanging ears and chiselled head. The tail is cropped and is constantly in motion. They have small and strong legs.

Cocker Spaniels have beautiful coat. The coat is smooth, shiny and medium sized with a hint of gold shade. The coat requires daily brushing and frequent shampoo sessions.

Weight and Height

Cocker Spaniels measure up to 15-16 inches and weigh around 15-30 pounds.

Nature and Temperament Cocker Spaniels are bold and always keen to work. They are energetic and have good stamina. They are loyal and protective about their families. Cocker Spaniels are gentle, playful and averagely intelligent. They have to socialize early to avoid tendency of shyness. Cocker Spaniels love to play with children. They are easy to train and get along with other animals as well. Female Cocker Spaniels have an average of five puppies in their litter.
Activities

Cocker Spaniels have vast amount of stamina and need constant exercise. They love long daily walks and playing Frisbee with the children. Cocker Spaniels love the attention they get and enjoy playing sessions with their families. Cocker Spaniels will live fine in apartments as long as they get proper exercise.

Average lifespan Cocker Spaniels live for around 11-15 years.
