The head of Chow Chow is broad and flat, the muzzle is broad near the eyes and narrow towards a black nose. Ears are small, rounded and have hair behind it, which makes the Chow Chow resemble a Lion. The chest is broad, deep and strong. Tail is thick and carries over the back. The two distinctive features of Chow Chow are its blue-black tongue and straight hind legs, which make their walk, a bit stilted.
The coat is dense and furry. Chow Chow coats are of two varieties, smooth coat and rough coat. The fur is so dense that it was used as trim coats for winters in China. Most common colours are black, red, cinnamon and cream. The coat sometimes has darker or lighter shades. |
