Chartreux It is stated that, Chartreux originated and lived with the Carthusian monks of France. Recent research indicates that Chartreux got the name from the well known Spanish wool of the 18th century of the same name because of their woolly fur.

Body Description:

Chartreux are medium sized and sturdy French breed. Their head is round and broad with powerful jaws. Their nose is straight and medium in width and length. They have very expressive, round and alert copper or gold coloured eyes. Their body is strong with broad shoulders and deep chest. Their legs are short and finely boned.

The coat is short and woolly in texture. It has dense and resilient undercoat. Popularly coat colours include any shade of blue-grey from ash to slate colour.

Weight and Height Male Chartreuxs weigh around 12-16 pounds and females weigh around 7-10 pounds.
Nature and Temperament Chartreux are known for their dog-like behaviours, they can be taught to fetch a ball and will mostly respond to their names. They quickly get attached to their family and love to follow their owners from room to room. They have a tendency to purr and not to meow. They love to stay indoors and watch television.
Activity

Chartruex are very active indoors and loves to play with a ball.

Life Span Chartreux lives up to 15 years.
