BurmeseBurmese cats originated from Burma and have lived in Burma and its neighbouring countries like Thailand and Malaysia for centuries. They were brought to England in late 1800s and then were known as Chocolate Siamese.

Body Description:

The Burmese breed cat has a medium sized muscular body. Due to their hard muscular figure, these cats are quite heavier than they appear. The head and neck is medium sized and is proportionate to their bodies. The nose is wide and distinct, the chin is deep and firm and the brow is rounded. The eyes are large, shiny and golden yellow colour and appear different with light variations. Their tail is straight and long and gives them an attractive look.

The coat is silky, shiny, short and closely sealed to the body. The texture is soft and represents satin and dark brown is the most popular colour.

Weight and Height Male Burmese weigh around 8-11 pounds and females weigh around 6-9 pounds. They measure up to 9-11 inches.
Nature and Temperament Burmese cats are friendly, easy going and lovable. They thrive on attention of their owners to remain happy in domestic atmosphere. They are excellent with children and make good companions to them. The Burmese cat has a unique feature of being responsive to their owner’s feeling. Like other breeds, Burmese cats are very curious in nature and are likely to depart if given much freedom. They love affection and comfort and wish to remain indoors in company of human beings.
Activity

Burmese cats are lively and playful. They are very active indoors and love to play with balls.

Life Span On an average a Burmese cat lives for 9-15 years.
