Border TerrierBorder Terriers originated from the Cheviot Hills, near England and Scotland border. They helped farmers to drive out Foxes and kill them. They have enough stamina to keep up with a Horse. They are popular hunters of martens, otters and fierce badgers. Border Terriers are excellent trackers, watchdogs and hunters. Border Terriers love to perform tricks.

Body Description:

Border Terriers are small and spunky. They have short muzzle and a black nose. The ears are small and fold forward in a ‘V’ shape. Their tail is short and has a thicker base tip. Popular colours are red, tan and grizzle with small white patches on the chest.

Border Terriers have a coarse and tough double coat. The hair represents short wire sprouting out of the Terrier’s body.

Weight and Height Male Border Terriers measure up to 13-16 inches, where as female Border Terriers measure up to 11-16 inches. Male Border Terriers weighs around 13-16 pounds and female Terriers weighs around 11-14 pounds.
Nature and Temperament The Border Terriers are mild mannered, alert and lively. They are very affectionate and pleasing towards children. They are relatively very easy to train. A strong and small terrier is a bold hunter and hence requires to be socialised with other animals at a young age. Border Terriers are required to be in a secured and fenced area. They will get along with other dogs, but not with other animals.
Activities They need regular exercise along with long walks. They love to play Frisbee with children
Average Lifespan The average lifespan of a Border Terrier is 15 years or more.
