Bearded Collie originated from Scotland, dating back to 1514. Bred for herding cattle and sheep, this breed was very popular among farmers. The name Bearded Collie comes from long hair under the Collie’s chin, which flows to the chest. They are rare in the United States. Bearded Collies were bought to America in 1967. They are excellent trackers, herders, agile, competitively obedient and love to perform tricks.

Body Description:	Bearded Collies are medium sized. They have broad head, short muzzle and hairy coat. Ears are close to the head and tail is long. They are very strong, but not massive. Most of their body hides behind their shaggy coat. Bearded Collie has a hairy double coat. The outer coat is dense and weatherproof and the under coat is thick and soft. The colour of coat changes over the time as the dog matures. Popular colours for coat are black, brown or fawn.
Weight and Height	Bearded Collies measure up to 20-22 inches and weigh around 40-60 pounds.
Nature and Temperament	Bearded Collies are active. They are known for their charm, affection and happy-go-lucky attitude. They are very playful and lively always wagging their tail, which tells that they are excited. They are perfect pets for kids. Male Bearded Collies are bold and outgoing, while females are calmer and submissive. They think a lot and hence require obedience training from a young age. They can be easily trained to do tricks. They are bark loudly, but do not make good watchdogs.
Activities	Bearded Collies are extremely agile and playful. They will not sit vacant and need lot of exercise such as long daily walks and running free in safe area. They absolutely love to play Frisbee with children.
Average lifespan	Bearded Collie’s average life is of 14-15 years.
