The body of Blue Heeler comprises of double coat. The outer coat of Australian Cattle Dog is hard, flat, close and straight, while under coat is short and dense. Different Australian Cattle Dogs may differ in colour of their coat such as blue, red, blue speckle, blue-mottled and red speckle. They are seasonal shedders. The most common colour of this breed is blue with different markings. Small puppies of this breed are born white in colour however, they gain their basic colour in few days.

Nature and Temperament
Australian Cattle Dogs are small dogs, but are alert and strong. They are very courageous and trustworthy, as they give their best to work on their duties. The breed is a perfect combination of power, balance and strong muscular condition. Australian Cattle Dogs are very loyal, intelligent and affectionate type of dog breed. They do not go well with children. They act suspiciously in front of strangers. They tend to dominate other pets and animals. Many breeders do not recommend novice or rookie dog owner to raise Australian Cattle Dog.
Health Care
It is important to brush them once in a week. Unnecessary bathing with shampoo may create serious problems. They are prone to number of health issues such as hip dysplasia and deafness.
Surrounding
They grow and learn well in rural setting than in apartments. They have great stamina and strength, however, they need proper exercise to help them focus and use their ability.
Training
Australian Cattle Dogs are able to handle heavy-handed and harsh training methods. This dog breed is exceptionally good in herding, guarding, retrieving, learning tricks and agility.
