American ShorthairIt is believed the owners of “Mayflower” to remove rats from the ships bred this cat. In 1966, the Domestic Shorthair was renamed as the American Shorthair due to its American Character.

Body Description:

The large head has a sweet expression. Its ears are medium in size. The eyes are large and set well apart from each other. Its neck is strong and muscular. The firm front paws have five toes while the back paws have four toes.

This cat has a coat that is hard, even and thick in texture. Its coat may come in number of different colours and different patterns.

Weight and Height The average height of this cat is around 9 inches. The male cat weighs 11 to 15 lbs and the female cat weighs 8 to 12 lbs.
Nature and Temperament This cat is very kind and gentle. They are always good with children. This cat loves to be a part of a family. Generally, this cat is very quiet in nature and always does well with dogs.
Activity

This cat is healthy and strong and loves to run, play and hunt. This cat is able to adjust itself without any yard or garden.

Life Span The American Shorthair is famous for their long life. They are expected to live for more than 15 years.
