Akitas are the largest of Japanese Spitz-type breeds. They are powerful, solid, well proportionate and distinctive looking dogs. They have a heavy and blunt triangle head, whereas the muzzle is short and strong. Ears are small, erect and tilt forward towards the line of neck. The tail is carried high and curls over the back. They have webbed cat like feet, which makes them excellent swimmers and allows them to walk in deep snow
Akitas have double coat composed of harsh and waterproof outer coat. The undercoat is thick, soft and insulated. Pure white, red, brindle and sesame are some popular colours for Akita. |
