According to geneticists, this cat originates from Southeast Asia and the coast of Indian Ocean. In 1868, soldiers, who returned from Abyssinia, introduced this cat to Britain.

Body of an Abyssinian cat is muscular and medium-built. Its head is rounded and has the shape of a wedge. Its ears are broad and large. Eyes of the cat are shiny, big and almond-shaped. Its legs are long and slim. It has a long tapered tail. Paws are oval-shaped.

Body coat of this cat is short, shiny, soft and medium in length. The coat hair displays many colour bands popular as the agouti colour. The agouti coat displays ruddy brown colour. Besides, other coat colours are fawn, red and blue.

Weight and Height Abyssinian cat typically weighs 9 to 16 lbs. Its height is 3.75 inches
Nature and Temperament Abyssinian cat is curious and intelligent. It easily mixes with human beings. It pines for its owner, if left alone for long hours. Male Abyssinian might do well with other cats too. However, female Abyssinian prefers staying alone. A climber, by nature, this cat loves to climb on trees and rooftops. It is inquisitive at times. It loves caressing on its head.
Activity

Exercise and play form a routine for this cat. It plays well in the company of its owner. This cat is an expert climber and swimmer. Overall, it makes a good household pet.
