| Pet Insurance
Hundreds of companies, from the leading supermarkets to the people who cover your car and home, are now providing pet insurance. If you are going to be introducing a furry friend to the family in the near future, or are already the proud owner of a companion pet, then insurance is the most vital thing after paying for their food.
There is a wide range of pet insurance companies to choose from, and within that choice there is a range of types to choose from. For example, with most companies you can often choose between a general pet insurance or a specific pet insurance.
Pet Insurance can be paid in small monthly fees, which is often more affordable than paying in a lump sum.
If you own a dog, then maybe a specific dog insurance policy would be the best. The variety is endless; policies range from cat insurance, to rabbit insurance, to bird insurance. Those who own horses will most likely need a horse/equine insurance, and not a general one as very specific things need to be covered.
These specific insurance policies are geared directly towards the cover of that particular pet. Dog insurance, for example, can be specifically tailored to owners worried that their dog may suffer a long term illness.
Pet insurance is also vital if your pet is injured in an accident. This is important as the sudden need to spend money on costly vets bills may cause a specific headache.
As lovable as pets are, it must also be remembered that they are animals. This should be taken into account when choosing insurance, particularly if you are insuring a dog or equine. In case of your pet biting someone, or causing other damage, then personal liability would be a vital asset.
You may feel like you can go without it, but with certain animals like the dog it is better to be safer than sorry. Under the Animals Act of 1971, action against the owner of an animal that injures someone or damage property is pretty tough. Having liability cover in your insurance, in that situation, would be of benefit.
This is important in another sense, and one that sounds rather unfair but is unfortunately true. If your dog runs out into the road and is hit by the car, then not only would you have to pay the vets bills but you may also have to pay help fix the car if any damage was done. Ok, so you may not be so willing to fork out a monthly fee to help someone who hit your pet with their car to fix his bumper. But by law it may be necessary and so having it in your insurance should be something to think about, particularly if you live near a busy road.
Keeping your pet insured is a vital part of keeping an animal; insuring pets does not guarantee that the worst won't happen, but it can help significantly if something unfortunate were to happen.
