How To Keep Tropical Fish?

In UK, people mostly prefer owning fish as pets than cats and dogs. If you wish to keep fish at home, make sure you care for is everyday need. You have to take care of water inside the fish tank, make available food for it on time, clean the tank periodically, wash every accessory you put in the tank regularly and look after the health of each fish in the tank.

Tips:

If you are trying to set up a new fish tank for accommodating tropical fish, then

Fill the tank with clean tap water. Set up water heater, pump and filter. Set the temperature of water heater to not more than 20-22C. Lighten the tank for at least eight hours in a day. Keep the pump on for 24 hours. Follow this routine for six weeks continuously without changing the water. Immediately after six weeks, have some sample water of the tank tested at a fish shop. The shop may not charge you for this. This is to confirm whether the water is all right for accommodation of tropical fish or not. The shop will test the sample water for instances of ammonia nitrate. Through this, you will finally get a confirmation, if the water is ready for accepting tropical fish or not

If you are about to house tropical fish in the fish tank, then

After completing the initial six-week period and upon confirmation from the fish shop for the tank water, you may put the fish into the fish tank. Consider keeping fishes such as Platies and Guppies, as they have the capability to survive in newly introduced water. Never put fishes directly into the fish tank. Instead, place them along with their bag first, which comes when you buy the fish, so they adjust themselves to temperature of the fish tank. Leave them for about ten minutes. Slowly, release the bag and allow some tank water to get into it. Again, leave them for another ten minutes. This is for seeing whether the fish is able to adjust itself to tank water or not. Do not buy coldwater or marine fish for your fish tank. Never introduce other fishes to the older ones, unless the latter are familiar with the environment inside the tank.

If you wish to feed the tropical fish, then

It is advisable you do not feed the tropical fish too much at a time, or else the fish might diet. The food they reject, which gathers at the tank’s bottom, pollutes the water. It leads to diseases and makes the tank water dirty and suffocating for fish. Never rely completely on each instruction given on the product labels, as the motive behind it is to earn more money through higher sale of products. Feed food about a pinch in every two days. Fish may live without food for three weeks. As such, you need not bother, while you are away from them for days.

Overview:

Tropical fish as pets need sensitive care. You need to take great care of them for their proper health. Maintain the tank regularly. This way, you may establish a long lasting bond with the fishes you preserve.
